The fall brocante season kicks off with an exceptional opening today at Marche aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves at Vanves and with the opening day of the 75th Foire Nationale aux Antiquites, a la Brocante et aux Jambons at Chatou. Plus there’s a brocante in my neighbourhood on Sunday morning. Since most of you can’t come along, I thought you might be interested in winning a surprise from this weekend’s brocantes. To enter, just leave a comment beneath this post.

The 13th Annual Paris Salon de Chocolat is coming up, so I’ve put together a little ditty that I like to call Un Mariage en Chocolat. Enjoy…
The Dress -The highlight of the Paris Salon is the chocolate fashion show. These wedding dresses are actually made with chocolate- either painted on, or woven into the material.

A variety of local cheeses are offered after dinner at the Nobody Inn in Doddiscombsleigh, Devon, England. From the early 1600s, the inn was known as “The New Inn.” In 1837, the inn’s name was changed to the Nobody Inn after the sudden death of the innkeeper, a Mr. Lewis. Legend has it that his body was left in the mortuary, while his burial service was unknowingly conducted around an empty coffin. Since then the Inn has had four owners, the current ones since 1970. Last month David and I spent two nights at the Nobody Inn. It’s famed for its food and this was our second visit.

A garment which combines different styles gives a different image of the person who wears it. For this reason, today?s fashion tries to avoid standard patterns and uses an endless range of variances, allowing each person to develop their own look from trends, materials, shapes and colours. Mix and match between trends from distinct backgrounds is the order of the day. Innovative designs are appearing together with more traditional cuts such as that of the most classic of materials, tweed, which has returned as one of the leading highlights of the season.

In autumn, visitors can set off for plenty of destinations, since afternoons in Spain are full of sun, but with a gentle breeze which invites us to go out, to breathe, and to enjoy all these pleasures for the senses.
In the Balearics, finding a worthy spot to go into is an easy task. El Arenal beaches are remarkable for their hustle and bustle, while other places such as Cala Castell are chosen by those in search of peace and quiet. Without doubt, autumn is the ideal season to walk and go into these spots in depth. One of the best options is going all over the Tramuntana Mountains, in the north of the island. Going for a walk is the best way to discover this island, where the trees give off smell to pines, rosemary and thyme. Majorca provides the visitor with a wide range of options to enjoy its beaches, including the long sandy beaches in the south and the coves between crags in the mountains. Not only do its landscapes offer sun and beach holidays, though. Around the 40% of its territory is protected, since nature reserves of exceptional beauty such as S’Albufera, Dragonera Island, Mondrago, Cabrera Island and all the Tramuntana Mountains, go from the north to the south of the island.
