April 15th was one of the days that everything stops in Argentina. Yes, it was a Sunday, maybe that had something to do with it, but I doubt it. That particular Sunday was the Boca - River soccer game, el “Superclasico.” I was fortunate enough to get into the stadium through a series of extraordinary and somewhat unexpected events.

I know a member of the barra brava, which is the term for soccer hooligans in these parts. This means I can regularly attend soccer games and sit in their section, make a bunch of noise and dance around, all the while trying to watch the game. I just have to keep my eyes open for the large hooligans who can at any moment come from behind and nearly knock you to the pitch on the way to wherever they are going.

Crossing Cebu to Iloilo by Nautical Highway, the Unconventional Way

I’m experiencing problems with my life in Cebu during these times. At times like these, I just wanted to get out of everything, therefore I went home, to Iloilo. The sudden decision that I made affected the schedule of my whole week for I wanted to escape the urban jungle the soonest time possible, under the cover of the night. Crossing the seas and the mountains in the cover of the night and the shade of morning dew. In less than 12 hours.

Stuffbak - Getting your lost gear back.

< Nothing gets your stuff back like a monetary offer. People like free stuff, but they like cold hard cash better. Why not tempt people to return your stuff by offering a reward? People do it when they lose a dog, why not try it out with your iPod, cell phone, laptop, or luggage? The friendly folks at Stuffbak have used peoples greed and the digital age to help you do just that.

The way the Stuffbak system works is quite simple. Choose the Stuffbak label pack that fits your needs, activate the label, set a reward price if you are so inclined, affix the sticker to your goodies, and then go lose it. You only have to lose the item if you want to get the FULL effect of the Stuffbak system.

Taking the family on a winter skiing vacation can be a daunting task - sometimes finding a destination that everyone agrrees on is the hardest part. Use our ideas below to help you plan your next winter getaway!

Many resorts offer a plethora of activities for you and your family. While you are skiing fresh powder, your children can be supervised by a certified ski instructor while enrolled in ski school. After that lesson, you can meet up with them and they will be happy to show you what they learned. When the day ends, be sure to explore the town. Ski towns are notorious for some of the best shopping and fine dining. If you want to take a day off from skiing to catch your breath, try ice skating, toboggan runs or just sit by a fire with a good book. When it comes time to plan a ski vacation, try to plan at least 5 to 6 months ahead of time. This is when you can find the best deals and you shouldn’t have to worry about the hotel you want to stay in, completely booked. I have found that a little research goes a long way. After you choose your hotel, see if they have any packages or specials available. Most of the time hotels and resorts will offer a bit of a discount on lift tickets and other activities. If a special or package is not available, make sure to buy your lift tickets in bulk to save some money. Try to buy a 3 or 4 day pass versus buying individual tickets each day. Often times, these lift tickets will be good for more than 1 resort in the area.

CHECKING IN: Philadelphia

Philly may be more fun when you sleep over, but at these prices?/R. Kennedy-GPTMC

Tomorrow’s cover story is all about doing your holiday shopping in Philadelphia. I’m totally on board. Great idea. Philly=good stuff.

Still. Who knows why — probably all the spendy Brits who couldn’t get hotel rooms in New York for their shopping sprees — but for some reason, a cold and wet Philadelphia costs more per night this week than a lot of other places where it would be nice to be next week - say, Las Vegas, for instance.
