Florence, Italy is Italy’s foremost Renaissance city. It is the home of Dante, Michelangelo, Machiavelli and the Medici. The city has so much art and history that it can be overwhelming.
In fact the beauty of the city has caused some people to faint. The French writer Stendhal was so dazzled by the beauty of Chiesa di Santa Croce that he was unable to walk. This condition is now known as the Stendhal syndrome and Florentine doctors treat dozens of cases a year.
As beautiful and remarkable as Florence is most of the year, it is hot, crowded and polluted in the summer. If at all possible you should visit Florence in the fall, spring, or winter when you can enjoy all that the city has to offer.

PlanetFone came through for me once again. I recently visited Italy with two friends. Because there were three of us traveling together we rented hotel suites and apartments.
I decided to rent a phone from PlanetFone because of my experience with them when my sister had her purse stolen in Termini Train Station in Rome. My traveling companions agreed it was a good idea. One has a parent who is quite ill and she wanted a phone number where she could be contacted in case of an emergency.
Once again PlanetFone came to the rescue.

I decided to go buy some dvds abd the perfect place for me to go get them was Via del Corso. I first went to Ricordi Media in Termini station which is located very near Nice Hotel Rome. They had what I was looking for but I decided to try in Via del Corso too.

Last night I went for a nice walk to the city centre with a friend of mine. My usual trip to the cinema in Via del Corso was cancelled as my room mate told me there was nothing good on till next week. Anyway it was no problem for me because I was going out later.

I have been hearing that phrase quite a lot lately and I am really not surprised. The weather for the last few days has been absolutely fantastic but it has also been devilishly hot. The past few days have been around 31.5 degrees. Thats just a bit lower than the record for Rome a couple of years ago at 32 and a bit degrees.
If this is what its like now in spring i dont know how its going to be in summer. Anyway a few tips on how to survive the heat in Rome for the time you are here. The first and most important thing to remember is to drink plenty of water. Thats no problem in Rome because there are loads of fountains in the streets and the piazzas.

Yes I have been here for nine months already and it feels like time has been flying. Let me just tell you a little about the impressions of Rome that I felt and some of the experiences I have had so far.

There’s more than one Rome. We have the ancient Rome, maybe the most famous of them, and probably the reason why you’re travelling here. But the city has also a living face that’s almost as fascinating as its monuments.
Italy, like most of the European countries is a magnet for immigration from all the continents. As everyone knows, this phenomenon that mixes together people of different origins and creeds
