Who would want to tear down a building like this? Things have changed — last week, Time Out honored St. Pancras Chambers as the First Wonder of London.

George Gilbert Scott’s St. Pancras Chambers building, which fronts the “new” St. Pancras International rail station, had few fans in the 1960’s, a time when London was lurking under a serious coat of grime. No longer was ornate en vogue - it was the dawn of the age of the grey, concrete slab, a time for brutalism, an atmosphere where that which is today considered oppressive could have been seen as liberating.

There aren???t too many times where life gives you the opportunity to sleep in a round bed- which is why I couldn???t wait to stay at theMadonnaInninSan Luis Obispo. There really isn???t much to do in this university town (unless you want to wash your clothes at a laundromat or eat cheap sushi)- but it was the perfect stop over for us betweenYosemiteandHearstCastle. TheMadonnaInnis the massive, monstrous and gloriously, unabashedly over the top creation of the late Alex Madonna. Taking design cues from Liberace,Cherand perhaps Liza Minnelli, Madonna adhered to the ???build it and they will come??? school of thought, as the hotel is a destination unto itself. There are 109 individually decorated rooms. Some are quite funky, like Caveman, with ceilings and walls made from rocks, orBuffalo, with (yup) a large buffalo head staring down at you. Other rooms have an extremely loose interpretation of a theme- such as a room decorated ???in the design of Sir Walter Raleigh??? which has lots of patterned fabrics??¦ and absolutely nothing to do with him.

Surprisingly the Spanish online travel market is not saturated by the emergence of aggregation and comparison engines; there is still space for newcomer(s) to enter this segment of the online travel industry. That’s what Minube.com (that literally means “My Cloud” in Spanish) did today by launching this new flight/hotel aggregator “Minube”.

Minube.com referred itself as being a web 2.0 site. A simple, clean and original design withgreen, red and orange clouds! It uses features that made Web 2.0 sites so convenient such as the suggestion search box; as you type in a query it will display the available cities/countries/airports dynamically via some AJAX. Pretty useful when you don’t know how to spell those Spanish cities or when you don’t know the airport name of your destination.

There are some occasions when you just have to sleep near- or at- the airport and more often than not, the hotel selection is usually a grim conference site. But if you want to be near LAX, or within a short drive to the business areas ofLos Angeles,  book into the very new and very funky Custom Hotel. The building???s exterior is black and gothic, and was originally built by mid-century architect Welton Beckett, designer of the Capitol Records building. The interiors are funky and playful. The lobby area features fuzzy sheep (and why not?) and each guestroom has all the necessary luxuries, like high thread count sheets, wireless internet access and iPod docking stations. Custom Hotel will also soon be opening an in house bistro and pool side grill- and all this comes at a mere $129 a night, going up to $149 in 2008. Custom Hotel,8639 Lincoln Boulevard,Los Angeles,CA90045Phone: (310) 645-0400.

People have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history. Awed by its beauty and diversity, early 20th-century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. The park is home to a number of plants and animals, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Today visitors come to Acadia to hike granite peaks, bike historic carriage roads, or relax and enjoy the scenery.

Finally, Teva sandals you can wear with both hiking shorts and a dress. These Teva sandals have the traditional straps you find on Teva’s but the straps look like leather (I have no idea if they are actually made of leather or not). Because they look like leather these Teva’s can be dressed up or dressed down.

Like most Teva’s, the Teva Leather 2 Sandals are waterproof, so there is no need to worry about getting them wet whether you are walking in the rain or hiking through puddles.

The Teva Leather 2 Sandals are perfect if you are trying to pack light for your next trip because you can wear them all day and out for a night on the town.

A 40-year-old office clerk became an international celebrity when she went for a swim, naked, in the Trevi Fountain. This is not the first time the Renaissance masterpiece has been used as a private pool and it certainly will not be the last.

As quoted by the Corriere della Sera Roberta said “The water is everyone’s and it was hot. What’s wrong with taking a dip?” Roberta, wisely did not give her last name. Pictures of her appeared in all Italy’s leading newspapers on Monday. A short video of Roberta swimming was broadcast on Italian television late Sunday.

Roberta stunned tourists and locals alike as she stripped and swam several lengths of the fountain before stretching out on the marble at the base of the statue of Neptune.
