If you dream of outdoor adventure, but don’t really want to rough it or wing it, then check out Nichols Expeditions. Don’t let the fact that they are based out of Moab, Utah deter you from thinking they don’t know about bicycling in Turkey or trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Chuck and Judy Nichols are adventurers themselves and lead many of their own trips. This is how they can give such accurate information about all of their tours on their website. Nearly every detail of the expedition I enjoyed, The Baja Islands Odyssey, was exactly as they described it.
This is the fourth of five pieces by artist Leau Philliips about her experiences at the New Mexico State Fair.
First folks, an update on my previous post. I neglected to mention that Friday night at the petting zoo is mostly for single dads and interestingly enough, first dates!! Nothing says “getting to know you” like jumping goats, a Brahma bull and the smell of manure. Last comment overheard as I left the area: “Wanna do the petting zoo?” “Dad, I’m 12…”
My name is aspersion and I am tossed about all too frequently these days. If you dare to disagree with the current American government, it may be suggested you are unpatriotic. But true patriotism as envisioned by our forefathers involved questioning the government - not following blindly whatever direction we are led and doing whatever we are told, like sheep. The Constitution calls for a government by, of and for the people - not just a privileged few who care more about politics and making money than the country and its citizens.
Today I received a lovely birthday package from Blue, which prompted me to post this photo in her honour. Merci bien, dear Gillian, for your thoughtfulness and friendship!
This is also my longtime friend Linda’s birthday, who along with her husband Omar, visited us in April. She’s a news reporter in the US and I hope they’re letting her off work to celebrate. Happy birthday, Linda! Read the rest of this entry »
There is a lot of buzz for a new travel website called Dopplr; buzz is mainly coming from the “web 2.0 blogosphere”, if I may call it this way. Unfortunately, I am not able to give you a lot of details concerning the new website as I have not received an invitation yet. (my email can be found in the contact section of this blog).
What is dopplr?
“Dopplr is an online service for frequent travellers. It was created by an international team of world travellers as a tool for our own use. We liked it so much that we decided to open it up to our global friends. If you travel more than five times a year and have friends who do as well, then Dopplr is for you. How does Dopplr work? It lets you share your future travel plans with a group of trusted fellow travelers whom you have chosen. It also reminds you of friends and colleagues who live in the cities you’re planning to visit. You can use the service with your personal computer and mobile phone.”
The Jewish New Year has come and gone and I am so far from Jewish traditions these days that I would have totally missed it if it were not for reading blogs and watching TV news. Jennifer’s post on This time of Year set me remembering.
By: John Simmons “Maui No Ka Oi”, translates quite simply to Maui is the Best! And if you’ve ever traveled to the Hawaiian Islands, you know exactly why this catch phrase is so popular- because Maui, also known as the “Magic Isle”, is filled to the brim with art, culture, and enough history to sink a whaling boat.
The island of Maui is the second most popular tourist destination in this south pacific island chain. Nearly 120,000 people call this 727 sq. mile isle their home, while pineapple and sugarcane are still their key exports. 2.5 million visitors each year travel to the golden-white sand beaches, mile-high mountain peaks and scores of breathtaking, natural waterfalls, all creating an ideal backdrop to the most relaxing vacation of your life.
I recently subscribed to yet another online wedding newsletter and I’m already hooked (I know…it doesn’t take much: just show me a couple of yummy pastel-colored cakes, a few photo montages of chic letter pressed invites, or some arty fish-eyed close-ups of votive candles or clusters of cocktail umbrellas, and I’m SOLD!) - Anyway, it’s called BFF Bridal -their tagline is “Best Friends Forever…or Until You Say IDo.” They launched last year and are based out of New York. I love this site because it’s pretty, fresh and offers up just a smidgen of really useful info at a time- For instance, in one of Augusts newsletters, they wrote about picwash.com, a website where you can upload and touch-up your personal photos like a Hollywood pro- for only 7 bucks a pop! In addition to publishing a weekly online magazine, they also offer bridal consultancy services, and have a chic little e-boutique that stocks only the top of the “it list” for bridal swag, like… monogrammed FIJI water sleeves (must…have…them…NOW!!)! BFF Bridal is hosting the upcoming “Best In Bridal”, a Receptions Showcase which will take place on Tuesday, September 25th from 6 to 9pm at The St. Regis Hotel in New York. Check out BFF at www.bffbridal.com
