Mother England.

There’s no place like home.

I am always at a loss for an answer when people ask me where I am from. In 30+ years I have moved house 30+ times, so you can appreciate my confusion. I have lived in Cardiff, capital of Wales, for the past few years, but I am (very) English.

I thank Wales daily for her hospitality. She provides a kind of safe comfort, like that of an over-stuffed chintz armchair in the parlour of an affectionate great-auntie; the sort of great-auntie who pinches your cheeks and plies you with cake. However, despite England’s dubious history, England is my mother and therefore has my heart.

The region of Almer?a, which is famous for its fruit and vegetable crops, was always a favourite place of the Moors. Its small harbours, hidden in the coastal area known as Levante, have crystal clear waters, which are ideal for scuba diving and its peaceful inland is made up of a series of landmarks that is just as varied. One of its most famous legends says that there is a cave full of precious stones near the tower of the Vela Blanca. However, it has never been found.

“Art Du Service“, a french blog that talks about the service sector in general (with a focus on services in the tourism, telecommunication and banking industry) stayed at the Easyhotel of London and came back with a candid video of the room.

easyHotel brand is part of a larger group known as EasyGroup which also holds easyJet, the famous budget airline mostly known in Europe.

Check below the amateur video of theeasyHotel London South Kensington. You will see that the bathroom is as tiny as the toilets of an easyjet aircraft!

Modern times have meant the emergence of different possibilities as regards purchasing a house. As opposed to traditional properties, other types of housing have emerged, and although they have just arrived in Spain, they have already been used in countries in Northern Europe or the U.S.A. for some years. Examples of this tendency are wooden constructions, which year after year have seen an increase of over 30%.

The break with initial prejudices has meant an increase in demand, however, there is still a certain lack of understanding from several social agents and there is a shortage of qualified experts in these types of houses. In addition, municipal regulations prohibit these buildings in some areas and neither the type of companies in the sector nor quality are usually regulated. What is it that makes someone choose an alternative house, like a wooden house, instead of a more traditional style? Not only the ecological concerns of each person, but also the advantages these buildings offer as they are constructed entirely with this material. The control of dampness or heating or the ability to absorb sound are the main reasons for purchasers. Likewise, price must also be considered as they are cheaper than other properties and speed as regards construction, since there is a set deadline for the execution of works which prevents the usual delays. The purchase of a wooden house implies more than a change of residence; it involves a different way of life.

Earthcomber.com

Earthcomber.com – Cheaper than a GPS and just as good.

Don’t think anyone is going to “giva giva you a Garmin” this Christmas? No worries. With the Earthcomber.com services you will have GPS functionality at your fingertips for free. Now you will be able to smile and perhaps even laugh in the face of TomTom using businessmen and Garmin carrying soccer moms.

Finding Costa Blanca Property, Altea property, Benidorm property or Moraira Property can be a hard task. Lots of estate agents offer their properties on the internet and it is difficult finding a nice website containing a wide variety of properties.

If there was only one website containing all the properties from all the estate agents…. But…. There is !! In www.AMLAspain.com you can find over 4500 properties at the Costa Blanca from all professional estate agents.

AMLA, or Association of Multiple Listing Agents Spain is an organisation of Spanish estate agents all using the same system to share and advertise their properties on the net.

London offers a dazzling range of hotels for every taste and temperament. There are shiny mega hotels, mini boutique hotels, and swanky business hotels, all catering to the fussiest of travelers.  Hundreds of hotels promise something special — perhaps the best location, acclaimed restaurants, a superb spa, or maybe some whiz-bang technology in the rooms. But when you???re jetlagged, lost, and dragging luggage through the rain at 7:30AM after a red-eye, there???s nothing more important than prompt and intuitive service in a peacful place designed to be as much like a home as like a hotel.

Lincoln City

I was born on the Oregon Coast, and as a family we try to visit at least every two years. I don’t have any family left there, but I still get a thrill when we drive the last few miles into Lincoln City and catch our first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. Although my family moved away when I was just 6 months old, every return feels like a homecoming of sorts. Of course, there are a few things we must do every visit - I would be heartbroken if we skipped them, and oh yeah, the kids would too!

Mo’s Restaurant is a MUST. I hate fish, never have liked it - but when we’re on vacation in Oregon, I eat it like crazy. Mo’s has the BEST clam chowder - and I don’t like clam chowder - at all! Yes there are a lot of tourists, and you usually have to wait in line, but I’ve never said “Ugh, I’m sick of this” and we eat there almost daily the 2 weeks we’re on the coast. Mo’s has locations in Florence, Otter Rock, Newport (2 locations), Lincoln City and Cannon Beach. You can also order their chowder base online, which we do every New Years. They ship it in dry ice via FedEx Overnight and it’s TOTALLY worth it!
