Hotwire, a service that allows consumers access to discounted air, hotel and rental car inventory is having some success in attracting small groups. The service is simple to use - select your destination and the services you require (air, hotel, car) and Hotwire quotes rates that are often far below what suppliers charge directly. The “catch” so to speak, is that you don’t know the service provider until after you put your credit card down. That being said, Hotwire represents top brands that have excess inventory to unload, but don’t want to ruin their brand pricing inventory. The author has used their services dozens of times for individual travel and small groups - with 100% satisfaction.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Los Mono is the Chilean group responsible for that video, which makes you think Santiago is home to super-long corridors and apartment buildings that never end. The song is sick. Buenos Aires also has a thriving live music scene, though I’ve discovered that it is not easy to find.

We’ve had a previous discussion about whether readers prefer their links on this blog to open in a new window, or do they just want to use tabs or the “Back” button up on the upper left side of the blog page.

Two big exhibits are coming out today in Atlanta’s renowned High Museum: Inspiring Impressionism, a survey of Old Masters from Monet to Rubens, and The Louvre and the Ancient World, the second installment of the phenomenal partnership between the High and the Louvre.

The Impressionist exhibit lasts only until Jan. 13 but is still a great activity for your people when they’re having a free day, and the $12 (senior citizen) ticket price includes a free audio guide. The Louvre exhibit still has some time for planning, running through September 2008.
