Collette Vacations offers travelers a glimpse of yesteryear - holiday-style - with its new program, An Old Fashioned Christmas. This five-day getaway includes eight meals and takes travelers to the charming Pennsylvania Dutch Country and the Brandywine Valley.

“The creation of this tour has been a long-time in the making,” said Trish Gormican, Collette Vacations’ product manager for the Eastern USA. “Our Heritage of America program has been a top-selling tour for many years, and when travelers return home from it, they always rave about the experience of sharing a meal with an Amish family and learning about their traditions and culture. Ode to an Alfajor

Us North Americans live on peanut butter. For the Italians, it’s Nutella. And for those in Argentina, the staple of every household is the Dulce de Leche. It is a thick creamy caramel-like treat that you can buy in any market, grocery store, or kiosk. It is never in short supply. This sweet treat can be, and is, eaten on just about anything. But to maximize your dulce de leche experience you have to go for the Alfajor.

The alfajor is a popular dessert throughout the Americas, mainly in Argentina and Uruguay, that consists of two delicious soft cookies filled with a layer of dulce de leche and often covered in chocolate. They can be covered in white chocolate, dark chocolate, or milk chocolate. You can also find Alfajors de nieve, or Snow Alfajors, that are covered in powdered sugar and coconut. And occasionally each alfajor making business will sell their own unique variety.

Travel to Hawaii is ramping up after recent rains have slowed bookings. The weather has cleared and sunshine has returned to the Islands!

Recently John Monahan, President and CEO of the Hawai’i Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) stated “We’re enjoying blue skies and the warm sunny climate that everyone expects when coming to Hawai’i.”[1]

Repeat travelers to Hawaii are on the rise, with more than 62% of visitors enjoying the sun and sand more than once. Today’s travelers are also more likely to be independent, and rely less on group and package tours. In 2000 just over 49% of travelers were independent explorers, while in 2005 that number rose to nearly 54%.[2]
