Inspired by Laura at SoireSpecialEvents‘ “Monet color palette”, I thought it would be fun to take it one step further and create an entire wedding theme around a famous French painting. This French wedding theme is inspired by Sunday Afternoon on The Island of La Grande Jatte, by George Seurat.

The Color Scheme: Warm hues of purples, mauves, sage greens and pale pastels.
The Dress: An antique-inspired gown by Pronuptia, with a cinched, layered bodice and a high bustle, which echoes the silhouettes of the ladies in Seurat’s painting.

The Flowers: A bouquet of roses and hydrangea in dusty rose and purple hues.
The Accessories: A romantic ladies parasol. Try Alexandra Sojfer (formerly Madeleine Gely) on Boulevard Saint Germain, which has been selling quality umbrellas and walking sticks since 1834.

The Decor: For an outdoor reception, Romantic French Country, with rustic wrought-iron furniture, heavy, cream-colored dinnerware, and lavender colored linens by Linvosges.
The Venue: Ile de La Jatte, of course! Welcome your guests on the terrace of Le Petit Poucet for a traditional, classically French celebration au bord de la Seine. Or, for a more contemporary feel, the hip and trendy Cafe de la Jatte can accommodate up to 250 guests for a seated reception.
