The European Union joins forces in order to boost the validation of university studies and degrees

In May Ministers and people responsible for education from 45 European countries met in Bergen (Norway). They committed themselves to boosting the validation of university studies and degrees along with the quality standards to speed up the pace of the creation of a common space on higher education in 2010.

The Bergen Declaration defends the systematic introduction of internal mechanisms related to the common quality standards in order to facilitate mobility. This declaration also urges the nine member countries within the process that have not signed the Lisbon Convention on validation of studies to do so. Other points included in the declaration refer to the external dimension of the European space on higher education, promoting cooperation with other geographical areas.
