This Old Thing?

Twice a year during fashion week, Didier Ludot, the most renowned vintage clothing shop in Paris, devotes the shop windows to an up-and-coming young designer. This season he chose the handsome and gifted Alexis Mabille (pictured), who showed off his talent with fantasy clothes, which included a shocking pink marabou, mini-dress flecked with sequins and an evening coat made of 650 rose-colored organza silk bows.

This Old Thing?

Ludot has built an impressive empire devoted to vintage couture and top ready to wear. Stunning and chic clothes by fashion greats like Yves Saint Laurent, Madame Gr?s, Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior, and Lanvin grace the windows of his four storefronts in the classy Palais Royal. One swoons at the gorgeous gowns, smart tailored suits, and dramatic entrance-making coats that hark back to the days when some women only wore Paris couture and came here twice a year just to buy their clothes.

Shoe and bag freaks will have a field day in the accessories only shop, as they salivate over the Hermes Kelly bags, Roger Vivier crocodile pumps, and Chanel jewelry.

Ludot has expanded his vision of vintage by designing a line of black cocktail dresses called–what else–The Little Black Dress, inspired by the great but always-hard-to-find black dinner dresses of yesteryear. You can accessorize them with a spray of Ludot perfume and the new jewelry collection.
